Here's the Starting Line For Healthy!

The Hog Days Stampede Health and Fitness Run/walk/stroll/wheelchair bound/on your crutches event is held first thing Saturday morning of Hog Days weekend. And, yes, there are usually several entrants in wheelchairs or with crutches who participate so don't let that be an excuse to not get out there and do something good for yourself! Whatever your pace, it's all encouraged and urged on, celebrating 41 consecutive years of healthy in 2017. Presented by Breedlove's Sporting Goods, The Community State Bank and The Chamber of Commerce, all of Kewanee, everyone is welcome to enter.  This is a competitive racing event for those who want that and prizes and trophies go to the winners.  But for those not into hard core racing, and there are hundreds of entrants in that category each year, get yourself out there and "just do it!" We promise that you will be cheered across the finish line and "hi-fived" no matter where you place or what your time. Guaranteed!

The Stampede is divided into 3 events: the 1 mile, the 4 mile, and just for kids under 7, the quarter mile.

The official entry form is available  here or from the Kewanee Chamber of Commerce.

Over 600 runners and walkers competed in the 4-mile Stampede and 1-mile Hog Jog in 2016. Below are the Stampede champions, Jackie McKown of Brimfield, IL and Sam Showman of Yates City, IL. McKown is a former all-state cross country runner for the Elmwood-Brimfield Trojans and earned all-state honors in 2007. She went on to run middle distance track for North Central College in Naperville. This was her third consecutive Stampede Champion win. Showman posted the top overall time of 24:50 and McKown's time was 25:50.

Top Kewanee female finisher was Joycelyn VanAntwerp with a time of 29:33. Top Kewanee male finisher was Anthony Dearing with a time of 27:13.

The course record is 19:24 and extra cash will go the first person to break it.  Are you up for it? Complete 4 mile results are available here.

In the one mile race,  Chad Vincent of Kewanee finished first with a time of 5:28.  Complete 1 mile results are available here.
