Individually they are called Kerry Murray, Bob Tellier, Bert Erdmann and Rodney Taylor. Together, they are called Kayambe and they are giving us the honor of opening the 64th annual Kewanee Hog Days!

What began as a two man band has become a four person group. As far as their uniqueness, quoting from their web page: "...we believe the different styles and musical preferences of each of us, as well as the cultural differences in our upbringings formed our "styles". We were born and raised not only in different countries, but on different continents, which brings a lot of different musical influences with it. Maybe this is one other reason for our somewhat unique style and sound. We'll let you be the judge of it..." Kayambee's playlist includes everything from the Beatles to the Police to the Rolling Stones and they have quite a collection of original and locally popular songs to add to the mix.

We need to get this 2017 Hog Days thing underway and Friday, September 1st at 7:30 p.m. is the time, the main stage at Tremont and Third Streets is the place and Kayambee is the group. We are ready to let this year's HogFest party roll on! (more on Kayambee here)

Okay, get ready...this could be epic! The Windy City is sending down to Kewanee the Neverly Brothers to rock n roll all of us! Through song, experience the birth, near death and resurrection of the music from the 50s and 60s that all the baby boomers (and beyond) remember and enjoy.

The evening includes musical tidbits you won't believe true (but are!), vintage wardrobe changes and show-stopping renditions of hits from Jerry Lee Lewis, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Dave Clark Five and much more!

The main stage is the place to be Saturday evening September 2nd at 7:30 p.m. for Chicago's one and only Neverly Brothers. It's not moldy oldies, it's old school cool! (more on The Neverly Brothers here)

We called it the Kid Time and it was Monday, the final day of our Labor Day weekend celebration. It met with so many "thumbs up"  we've decided to do it again this year. All the entertainment planned for Monday centers around kids and families. All of it is free. And all of it is designed to be fun whether you still are a kid or still one at heart! The highlights are posted below. It's the Kid Time...Part II!

Not only is he the consummate entertainer, but he also has a children's CD entitled "Elephants & Kangaroos / Wonderful Things I Remember." His children's book "Bossy & Bernerd's Stillman Valley Farm" was published in 2015.

Coal Black Exotics is a family owned and operated educational exhibit that appears at schools across the Midwest. It's like a petting zoo...only the animals are all reptiles. Turtles and snakes and lizards, oh my! The goal is to dispel fear and answer questions anyone may have about our reptilian friends.  Animal handlers will let you touch if you wish or just look from afar if this isn't the day to conquer your Ophidiophobia!
