A mathematical
glitch resulted in TWO overall Grand Champion winners at the 2012
Pork Cook-Off Showdown! The day of the event, Zack Ahlgren of
Kewanee, assisted by Denny Kubiak and Gerry Henning were declared
winners of and received the $250 Grand Champion prize. Later, after
Hog Days was over for the year, an additional review revealed
that Kurt Jagers of Atkinson, IL was entitled to the Grand Champion
winnings. Kurt was then also awarded a $250 Grand Champion Prize.

of Kewanee, grills were
set up in and around the Station House Patio and at 12:01 AM
Sunday morning, September 2nd of Hog Days weekend the cooking battle
began! Contestants could enter in any or all of three
categories...Ribs, Roasts or Miscellaneous. Panels of judges
sampled and declared winners.
Winners, (listed below) received $250
cash awards for first place and the overall grand champion winners
each
received an additional $250 prize. Second Place was good for
$75 in each category and Third Place garnered $25.
