On Saturday, August 3rd,
2013 it "reigned" at Petersen Auditorium in Kewanee, IL.
It was the 26th annual World Festival Pageants and queens and their
courts were the order of the day. Details are listed below.
Miss World Fesival
Scholarship Pageants began in 1988 as a way to find local "ambassadors"
to launch Kewanee's annual Labor Day weekend festivities and serve as
the official welcoming committee for the thousands of people coming to
town. The very first Miss World Festival was Julee Dolezal Stevens.
The job description has since grown to include appearances at many
events and parades throughout the area. Everyone who enters
receives a prize package and the winners receive scholarship and cash
awards as well.
23 young ladies were entered
in the 2013 competition: 11 in Little Miss, 8 in Junior Miss and 5 in
the World Miss pageant.
The three pageants had
barely ended and arrangements were already being made for the new
Entourage to appear at the Bureau County Fair the very next afternoon!
The first royal appearance!
Congratulations to everyone
who entered. We look forward to "Catching the Reign" in and around
Kewanee during the next year! |
