Results of the Baker Park Labor Day weekend Golf Tournaments

Nathan Young and Amanda Kocis were the men's and women's champions in the annual Baker Park Labor Day weekend Golf Tournament.  Young won the 64th annual men's tourney with a 36 hole total of 130 with matching rounds of 6-under 65.  Young tied with 10-time tourney champion Scott Briggs for the top spot and emerged the winner in the tiebreaker.

Kocis shot 78 to defeat to defeat 11-time tourney champion Amy St. John by two shots.

 

 

Results Of The Mud Volleyball Competition Monday, September 1, 2008

The Kewanee Pool and Spa Team won the top spot in the 25th annual Hog Fest Hog Wallow Classic at Chautauqua Park.  Members of the team include: David Wager, Doug Wager, Steve Becker, Amanda Johnson, Kaleigh Hagerman, Nicole Palanos and Denise King.

122 riders took part in the Hog Heaven Bike Tour. Sponsors included: the YMCA of Kewanee's Flip-Tops tumbling team and Kingfish swim team, Breedlove's Sporting Goods,  Community State Bank, First Federal Savings and Loan, JV Enterprises (Pizza Hut), Peoples National Bank, Union Federal Savings and Loan, Johnson's Heating & Appliance, and Wal-Mart

Results of the Pigtail Contest August 31, 2008

Five young ladies between the ages of 3 and 8 proudly came up on stage to strut their pigtail stuff!  3 year old Izabella Wagner had the most pigtails with 55.  4 year old Kendal Bennison had a pigtail count of 17 and 4 year old Emily (last name not available) had 10.  3 year old Chloe Behnke received the judge's nod for prettiest pigtails while 6 year old Francesca (last name not available) had the longest pigtail at 17 inches. Each young lady received a goodie bag filled with assorted prizes!

 

Results Of  The 8th Annual "Shorty" Phyllis Relay For Life Kiss The Pig Contest August 31, 2008

Top Winner - Mayor Bruce Tossel of Kewanee, IL - Raising $599.00

1st Runner up - Casey's Store employee Missy Robinson of Kewanee, IL Raising $285.00

  Other's participating in this event included: Corky Eisenbarth, Andy Koehler, Tom May, Jerry Weir and Arlene McNaught. ALL had the opportunity to Kiss The Pig live on stage Sunday afternoon, August 31, 2008 at the People's Bank Lot! A grand total of $1042.00 was raised for Relay For Life.

5th Annual Celebrity Swine Showmanship Contest results:

1st place: Jill Milroy of Kewanee, Il.

Also participating  in 2008 was Dan Breedlove of Breedlove's Sporting Goods of Kewanee, Dave Clarke of the Kewanee Star Courier, Kristin Keane of Kewanee Hospital and Bob McKee of WKEI Radio.

Reserved Grand Champion:

14 year old Josh Link of Galesburg, Il. 

The barrow show and Celebrity contests were held at Black Hawk College East Campus Agriculture Arena.
